 dansup, btw there's this cool PMTiles thing for OSM, it's vector tiles in a single huge file from which clients load parts they need with range requests. Very self-hosting-friendly.  Pēteris, this looks like Apple Maps. I'm curious what does it use on Android though, Google has gotten really annoying with its maps in the recent years. You used to be able to just plop a MapView into your app and it'd Just Work™, then they started requiring an API key, but then they started requiring enabling billing, with a real card with real money on it, in order to get the API key, even though the use of Google Maps on Android is still free and unlimited. For now. @grishka @peteriskrisjanis Yeah exactly, I'm going to avoid Google Maps if possible and look into alternatives for web and android. Apple does it right, it just works. |
@peteriskrisjanis @pixelfed Apple Maps for now (so limited to iOS), but we are looking into OSM support for web and Android!
