@FediThing @rysiek @EU_Commission But not their toots and their discussions! The EU instance needs to be preserved, this is beyond ridiculous! @FediThing @frumble @rysiek @EU_Commission Accounts from institutions like EU Commission should be in at least public servers. It would be hard to understand to expose those to moderation and maintenance from a private and personal administrator. That’s precisely the situation with privative social network tools such as X, threads and so on, although in that case at least you can argue that is necessary for the people network… @frumble @rysiek @FediThing @EU_Commission I'm astonished at the fact that most #ActivityPub platforms allow exporting your posts, but practically none allow importing them back.
@frumble @FediThing @rysiek @EU_Commission I wonder, which national library is preserving the toots? 🤔 I remember projects to preserve Twitter (Padicat, from National Catalan Library, among others) but I am not aware of a similar project for the fediverse. Do you know @EU_Commission ? @Nodami @FediThing @rysiek Don’t give them ideas, the only reasonable choice is to preserve the current instance! @andresmh EU instances are being shut down on the 18th of May apparently: |

Oooh, interesting option! They could move their existing accounts to a third party server... not as great as their own server obviously, but much better than just deleting the accounts.
And it means if they bring the server back at some point they can move the accounts back there. The social graph would be preserved.
