@aral This comparison is tasteless and inaccurate.

Condemning Israel, as a state, for commiting genocide, which it does, has nothing to do with religion. Like it or not, war crimes, even when committed by Jews, must be called out. @axnxcamr @aral @beta3 you are obviously uninformed about what antimesimitic means. Please learn it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisemitism @besendorf @axnxcamr @aral @beta3 Can you point me to exactly where it states that calling out Israel for committing genocide is antisemitic? Since you seem so convinced that you're right on this, I assume you'll be able to find it :) @besendorf @axnxcamr @aral @beta3 You are wrong. Insisting that Israel cannot do wrong is antisemitic, by denying Jewish agency. If you accept someone as fully human, you accept their capacity to do Nazi-like things. You are the antisemite in this discussion. @besendorf @aral @beta3 killing Palestinians by the thousands is anti-Semitic. Pointing that fact out isn't. @greenWhale @aral @beta3 you obviously dont know what Antisemitisms is. Please read it up. @greenWhale @besendorf Etymological trolling does not change the common - historicallly grown - meaning of the term antisemitism. @beta3 @besendorf nor does conflating criticism of a state with hatred towards a cultural heritage and belief system, but here we are. @greenWhale @beta3 @besendorf it takes some serious stones for non-Jews to racialize Jews by calling us Semites (Göttingen school of history) and then another non-Jew to create the term antisemitism (Wilhelm Marr) so he could create a political party with the goal of getting rid of Jews to then play fucking word games when you all stuck the fucking word on us in the first place. @greenWhale @besendorf Not sure who you are replying to now. Neither me nor @besendorf have equated general criticism of Israel with antisemitism. Criticizing the Israeli government (or the population that has elected it -"Israel") is certainly legitimate as long as Israel's right to exist is not denied, as long as the history of the conflict is not ignored, etc. @besendorf @aral @beta3 @madies @besendorf @aral @beta3 you said they would turn into real amtisemites if we say the magic words. @dukepaaron @besendorf @aral @beta3 You're not an antisemite if you dislike IDF snipers killing children. But if enough pro-Israel voices (and it is unimportant if the voices are indeed Jewish) keep insisting that "criticism of Israel is attacks on Judaism", those of our species who are easily led may end up believing them. And assume that disliking IDF snipers killing children, means that they must also dislike their Jewish neighbour, even if both are in Europe or the US. @madies @besendorf @aral @beta3 you're arguing against something I didn't say. Here's the deal. Nobody turns people into antisemites. Some college kid at Rutgers is magically transformed into hating the Jew next door because Israel did something shitty? That's absurd. There's nothing wrong with criticizing Israel. Nothing wrong with being antiwar. None of that. But trying to blame antisemitism on some or all of the Jews can get fucked. @madies@mastodon.social @besendorf @aral @beta3 So Madies. Your own loaded language tells us where you stand. You could not be any more disingenuous if you tried. @Radical_EgoCom How is it accurate? Have Jews attacked Nazi Germany? Is Israel a dictatorship? Is Israel running concentration camps? It's just a very different situation at many levels. |
@beta3 If you say so, random anonymous Internet person. Now go piss up some other tree.
