πΌ "systemd-ifying postmarketOS, our immutable future, and why Alpine is cooler than you thought" Because people at @mediacccde are absolutely amazing, the talk is already up! The optional systemd efforts for postmarketOS are coming along nicely :blobcat: here's a short update post: @postmarketOS This is great! Is maintaining and improving support for installs through the UBPorts Installer still on the roadmap? @postmarketOS Many website could learn from this. Information is very easy to find and speed is blazing fast!

@postmarketOS thanks you guys for making this all possible :) We need slide in OS installer saying: "250 devices run Postmarket OS" New blog post about what we have done in 2024-05. This is absolutely amazing, thanks to everybody in this amazing community! :postmarketos: https://postmarketos.org/blog/2024/05/19/pmOS-update-2024-05/ @postmarketOS I'm really excited to join the pmOS team! Hope we get systemd stable soon :BlobHajMlem:! Especially exicted to see run0 run under pmOS with v256 soon, as things like homed, DynamicUsers are still a long way to go. @postmarketOS Makes me wish my tf700t wouldn't be so bricked to not be able to even enter fastboot anymoreβ¦
Speaking of articles: Europe's biggest IT and tech magazine @ct_Magazin published 3 pages where @ktn gave Phosh, Gnome Mobile, Plasma Mobile, Sxmo and even i3wm on the N900 a try and interviewed @ollieparanoid for it. "pmOS offers pure adventure, as in the early days of desktop Linux: command-line, DIY, self-built, customized installation images with partially obscure UIs. What you get in return: sustainability, freedom and unimaginable access to the OS and hardware." (roughly translated quote) @postmarketOS @ct_Magazin @ktn @ollieparanoid Thank you for reminding me that "cell phone" in German is "Handy". I also wanna thank Stephen Fry for introducing me to this in the first place @postmarketOS @ct_Magazin @ktn @ollieparanoid @postmarketOS @alpinelinux @gnome @plasmamobile @PINE64 Wow!! Gnome shell on mobile on the stable channel!! Gnome Software working with apks! Thanks so much for all the hard work everyone up and down the stack. @postmarketOS @alpinelinux @gnome @plasmamobile @PINE64 I picked a good time to try it out on my #pinebookpro! Excited to update and get some audio! @postmarketOS @alpinelinux @gnome @plasmamobile @PINE64 As a not-so-nerdy & non-dev user, you cannot imagine how much i'm looking forward to using Linux with #GNOME on mobile at some point!

Imagine that this device is not only a smartphone, a TV, but also a washing machine, a fridge, a car, an autonomous driving truck, an autonomous flying cab, ... Imagine there will be competition at the interface between hardware and software: No more walled gardens. No more "golden" cages: you sovereignly decide the operating system of your property: you decide who should have control over your property. Fewer #bugs, less #fraud, no more #bugdoor s and no more #backdoos. @postmarketOS @fsfe FSFE: we're several people who want to sign but just like @tomterl when we click to confirm, we're getting the 'limit exceeded, 20 requests...' error, and then "Not Found No such pending confirmation ID". Could you please fix this and inform us when it is done? I would like to share this more broadly, and it'd be better if people were not met with an error message. Thanks! ποΈ Just released episode 23 of the postmarketOS podcast: * PowerVR SGX540 https://cast.postmarketos.org/episode/23-PVR-SGX540-Kupfer-UBports-installer-SoCs-Phone-Testing-2/ @postmarketOS @ubports is this the primary distro for pinephone now? I haven't really looked into it since they stopped doing community editions and released the pro model. But i still have one and would like to play around again. This time on the podcast, @dos from @purism talks about his Die Hard GNU/Linux User On Phones life. How he's developing lots of great things for Phoc/Phosh, the Librem 5 and how he implemented his personal dream of shrinking windows that he had since the Openmoko days. https://cast.postmarketos.org/episode/21-Interview-Sebastian-Krzyszkowiak-Phosh-Librem5/ @postmarketOS |
