That’s why they chose to run their server and not join yours😘 As user you can block individual people and even complete domains(instances). Instance admins/mods can do the same on instance level. That should be enough to moderate content you’ll see But for the love of cats, stop with dictating terms to other instances..

@stux You and your family live on a street with lots of neighbours. One of your neighbours makes racist jokes and hangs Nazi flags in their garden. You choose not to speak to that neighbour, and ignore them. A second neighbour doesn't make racist jokes or hang Nazi flags in their garden, but is happy to listen to the first neighbour, share their jokes with others, and so on. Do you continue to be friends with the second neighbour? Or choose not to, to protect your family? Seems simple to me. It's not about dictating terms. You can't solve everything on an individual basis. Sometimes we need solidarity and need to work together. I think there's nothing wrong with discussing the best options, and people voicing their opinion. It still takes a while before Meta(P92) joins the Fediverse and the recent times we have read a lot of things from both sides Polls are not super reliable but maybe it will give a better overall picture of what you, the people using these platforms want The result will not be the definite outcome for us but I do take it into heavy consider because I love you all very much! Huh. In the list with "fastest growing #Lemmy instances" are only spam instances now I'm currently creating an instance ban list for Geddit to block those instances if they don't take action.. This is a disaster waiting to happen :lemmy: Lemmy ‘total users’ has now reached the million.. That’s ~200K new spam accounts in the past hours or so :blobcatscared: It’s kinda sad to see people think I’m ’bribed’ by Meta.. I have not signed anything, I did not attend anything from them nor did I accept anything but still the worst is assumed when I don’t agree on blocking a still in development project that we don’t even know the (domain)name from right away I don’t have any love for Meta or any of such companies whatsoever, that’s why I’m putting all I have in these platforms and guard it with my life so don’t expect Meta to get a ‘free pass’ on anything

 @stux yeah, this debate is getting off the rails. I've seen a few people making completely bonkers claims. Sorry this is hitting you hard, I feel bad about my role in this. @stux@mstdn.social It's actually very funny to see people talking about something that doesn't "exist" yet.  @stux it's awful seeing some people accusing you of taking bribes. It almost make me lose hope in this social media. I'm gonna try to clear up a few things Meta is not gonna buy Mastodon or any server, this is based on absolutely nothing and untrue. Yes, some of us indeed got contacted by Meta/Insta because they are working on a new social platform (this was in the news) and they are looking into joining the Fediverse (Mark Zuckerberg also told this in the recent podcast) SO. This contact was about a "heads-up" for a potential big platform to join the network and not for a "take over". [1/2]

@stux Thank you. I really don't understand the fear that they will take over. I don't think it's possible. That's the point of a federated protocol. If people are afraid, then they don't understand federation. And If they do understand and have legitimate fears, then maybe mastodon/lemmy/kbin are flawed and need to be truly federated. My point is that I don't think there's much to worry about. @stux Thank you for this. It's really frustrating to see the number of instances pre-emptively blocking an instance that represents a potentially huge moment for the Fediverse. A wait and see approach is totally reasonable and leaves room to act if Meta does anything that hurts your users. @stux@mstdn.social “meta is not gab” I mean, it’s amazing what happens when all the abusers and haters are busy having a Nazi circle jerk over on the birdshit site, and the kind, helpful, smart folks are here. And authenticity is key — as in, being a living breathing human and not just a paid troll — that’s helpful too. :mastodon: :mw: ✊

@stux gruselig 😱 Ich habe geglaubt, wer dort hin will, liebt die Natur 🤔. Wenn ich mir vorstelle, ich wäre dort angekommen - ich hatte mich auf der Stelle wieder umgedreht. I believed, who wants to go there, loves nature 🤔. If I imagine I had arrived there - I had turned around again on the spot.  @stux That, the Galapagos, the Antarctic, the Arctic. Nobody needs to be going their for their leisure time. Pay the places if they think they need tourist money.
