@ohiorob @stux I am hopeful that the lack of algorithms, the lack of an influencer centric model, and the ease of blocking instances will keep mastodon friendly, safe, and nazi circle jerk free. Or at least they can do it on their own completely isolated instance. Of course, that could lead to a radicalizing echo chamber, but those already exist anyway… @ohiorob @stux let it be known that ever since I migrated from the birdsite, I've never felt safer on any other social media platform than I do here. Sprinkle the right amount of science unto my safety and as a woman it means to me more than winning the lottery. @Astro_Jmona @ohiorob @stux I feel the same way; not to equate being an autistic online to being the same as what women online have to go through, but this is the first social media place I have ever felt safe, too. I also love how many scientists are on here! @exsangus @ohiorob @stux I hear you. Know you’re not alone. There is a support system for you and me here, something I never thought I’d find.    |

I mean, it’s amazing what happens when all the abusers and haters are busy having a Nazi circle jerk over on the birdshit site, and the kind, helpful, smart folks are here. And authenticity is key — as in, being a living breathing human and not just a paid troll — that’s helpful too. :mastodon: :mw: ✊
