@daringfireball when will pundits stop giving them oxygen? If they can’t be taken seriously anymore, why keep talking about @daringfireball Propping users eyes with match sticks is the next step! “An amazing new advertising approach, X doesn’t want you to know!” 🤬 @daringfireball I really think it is a vocal minority, and the vast majority are just waiting to see what happens. Update: I think the homeowners association comparison works here too. I have been in a homeowners association. Like 80 to 90% of owners I stayed out of it. I figure 10 to 20% are really active, and 1 or 2% really want to take control and do things. Our best association president was an old realtor who knew everything and just calmed everybody down. @daringfireball it’s not the people/users I am concerned about. I don’t trust Meta to be good neighbors. They have proven themselves untrustworthy so many times. Also weren’t you also in the wait and see about Twitter after the Musk purchase? @daringfireball This is the sort of thing that should make any developer wary of working with/for Elon Musk. What a colossal turd. @daringfireball this situation really does highlight how unreasonable it is that an app developer has no mechanism to contact their users directly, even when they have an ongoing responsibility to them like this. @daringfireball it’s important to note that people should do this if their subscription expired sometime between when #Twitter shut off access and now. Mine expired 21 days after the fact (Feb 2) and I let it run out but I’m still eligible for a prorated refund. |
