"For legal reasons the Torment Nexus will not be made available to our valued customers in the European Union. We apologise for the inconvenience." ;) Where Framework 13 @frameworkcomputer modular laptop is better than the MacBook ↓ Of course, there are many reverse advantages of the MacBook, but everyone already knows about them, and I want more diversity in the laptop market. 1. Framework has a 3×2 aspect ratio screen, compared to 19×10 on the MacBook. 3×2 is better for developers and people working with text. You will have more lines visible on the screen vertically. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/3-2-aspect-ratio-screens-best-for-productivity I wonder if linux audiophiles are a thing. "plain ALSA sounds warmer than pipewire" "linux kernel compiled with ALSR makes for a more chaotic high end" "ext2 sounds better than ext4"

@vidister the conversations below remind me that someone did make an ffmpegFS module. https://github.com/nschlia/ffmpegfs read-only FS in tandem with ffmoeg to dynamically transcode media. @vidister@chaos.social monsieur @skobkin@lor.sh (with a stress on the "i") might enjoy this tread as much as I did This is an app that should do one thing and one thing only. PLEASE don’t work on new features. PLEASE don’t ensure I have best authentication experience

It's a well known fact that if you make a website as a commercial organization but don't collect any data, your corporate ass falls off в твитторе теперь две кнопы — Subscribe и Follow. обожаю такое, фикс на три строчки, сообщение коммита на полсотни строчек https://github.com/JetBrains/kotlin/commit/b3c209f560ef215cd1f458dc48114ace8bfc089a Please remember that Mastodon doesn't have a marketing team or budget. Whatever media coverage Mastodon gets is from inbound interest from journalists. The growth of the platform has been predominantly through word of mouth. If you want the fediverse to grow, tell your friends.

@Gargron If you want software developers work on open source software, tell your friends about them. @Gargron I hope I will convince some new friends for the fediverse with @bjoernsta at #ScoopCamp! https://www.thenewsocial.de/das-fediverse-in-guter-gesellschaft/ If you like the work that we do--the upcoming 4.3 release, the nightlies for the past year, if you're a user of mastodon.social, or our official apps, or a fork that depends on our work--consider supporting us on Patreon. Mastodon doesn't do ads and doesn't sell your data, so we depend entirely on your support via crowdfunding:

@Gargron I haven’t been able to use the news tab in almost a month without the app crashing. It’s basically taken me off the app. :( 1/ At least 50,000 Russian convicts have joined the Russian army, with tens of thousands dying in battles in Ukraine. Convicts are still joining, but what makes them want to risk death? Prisoners say that sadistic treatment in penal colonies makes war preferable to prison. ⬇️ 2/ Many of the Russian convicts who went to war in Ukraine were imprisoned in the Omsk region, where jails have a reputation for extreme brutality, even by Russian standards. The independent Russian media project 'Okno' ('Window') has been speaking with former inmates. |
@jwildeboer REGULATORY OVERREACH STIFLING INNOVATION
@jwildeboer i use a VPN to ensure I can access all the torment.
@jwildeboer It's a shame that GDPR prevented us from enjoying the Torment Nexus (although some might argue it should have never been created...).
However, we at Torment GmbH are happy to provide you with several working Painstations in Germany which - being airgapped and offline - are fully GDPR compliant. See your local HNF (https://cku.gt/zObnb) or Computerspielemuseum (https://cku.gt/6iG2a). ;-)
