It's gonna be really hard to ever say exactly how many people are using Mastodon (and the fediverse at large) because lots of people sign up and then never post again, and lots of active users have more than one account (I have 4 for example)

The merit of that metric is debateable in the first place. What really matters is MAU (monthly active users), not total registered users, but most stats aggregators only collect/focus on the latter, and as such, that's what people see and keep track of and get excited about. And my take on it is, if people get excited about it, why not? It's still a milestone, you just have to understand the nature of the milestone.

Netflix is offering a motherlode of content during the virus lockdown. Several new competitors are arriving. Some are free (with ads) but they are buggy.
I cut the cord some time ago and went "Internet Only" with my ISP. It was a good cost saver with no loss of content.

I know this is an old post, but instances are coming across many issues using Backblaze with Sidekiq failures, regardless of setting up timeouts, retry attempts, etc

Mainly 503, No tomes, execution expired, & 443 errors during times of congestion

Any chance of getting a look at the root cause or some hints on best way to handle this so small instances can continue to afford cdn?

After weeks of working with Backblaze, after many 1000 errors, here is the final result
