Fun mastodon thing -- there's a lot of GREAT artists on here, so a) you can enjoy people's art! and b) you can commission things! In the 5 years I've been on Mastodon, I've commissioned a patch, gotten digital art, all kinds of little things.
But I know that this has been said before and better by POC and I am looking for a good piece on the subject to support the concept of extended family/kinship/chosen family networks vs. focus in nuclear family.

Someone on a project I'm in wants to cite David Brooks's 2020 piece "The Nuclear Family Was a Mistake" which is honestly... pretty good for Brooks?

Looking for YouTube channels reccs for a 75-ish old white dude with mild dementia who wants to be entertained by things like documentaries and how stuff works videos and is just generally a gentle and curious person who also takes EVERYTHING he hears at face value and thus is v much at risk to the YouTube algorithmβ albeit his wife is trying to stay on top of it but she still works and stuff.
