I started reading the new Murakami novel (“The City and its Uncertain Walls”) and is it just me or are there very strong references to “Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World” in there?! I finished this and I liked it very much indeed! I can see connections with Jungian shadow work, and with IFS too (but this might be because I'm so immersed in the topic at the moment). Anyway 5 stars, recommended. Was using ChatGPT just now to help me write a reply to my sister in law (we text in Mandarin), and out of nowhere it used her Chinese name, which wasn't mentioned in this chat! It turned out I had mentioned the name in a different conversation, but it freaked me out a bit, I have to say. @edwellbrook Thank you for the follow, Ed! I love Doppler (was introduced to it by @gwil) and I use it every day :tealheart: @gosha I love this about Clojure. You might think it's just 'let' over 'map', and (looking at the source) it mostly is! But, some edge cases are handled, and the interface is made regular… and it's just 10 SLOC! @gosha My grandfather, who (among many other things) was a recreational sailor, lived in Cornwall, in Truro. It's a lovely county… especially if you're still interested in sailing? Dartmoor national park is close by in Devon, too.

@vladh wow, what a list, thank you!! perusing your blog and enjoying it!! Will have to make time to read in detail 😊 Today is a rare treat for me: I'm off work, and my daughter is at the nursery. I'm planning to have some quiet reflective time and make some plans for the next few years — as my free time is limited, I need to know where to focus my efforts for the long term. Yay, reClojure is coming back in 2025! Thinking of submitting a talk proposal, but as a relative newbie to #Clojure I wonder what thing of value I could possibly share 🤔 https://www.reclojure.org/ @gosha things Clojure could learn from your previous experiences (Rails?), a case study of how a particular feature of Clojure makes something domain-specific easier for you, etc I’ve talked about this with a couple of people and I’m going to give it a try! Working title for my talk is: “It took me 4 years to build my first Clojure app” I dig this article on the practice of friendship by Tasshin Fogleman! A lot of these things came naturally to me, but as I get older and priorities change, I realise I haven't been prioritising friendships as much as I could've been. Got some work to do! https://tasshin.com/blog/the-practice-of-friendship/ Mastodon annoyance: if someone is using a different instance than you, it’s really hard to go look at their “following” list. On other social networks this is a great way to find interesting people to follow. I can't believe this iteration of my website is already close to 5 years old! I still love the design and have many things I want to improve, instead of trashing it and starting from scratch. |
