@twistylittlepassages Alas, I am not worthy to enter either of those worlds. Eeeeeeaagh. 😩   a friend wants to set up a discussion in a closed online forum. she wants to post a topic and then have participants discuss the topic. she avoids social media. has there been a next-gen version of discussion boards? I'm guessing she's looking for something along that line, but she and her userbase would be scared off by such a clunky fiddly interface. they want it to be mobile-friendly and not look like web 1.0. any suggestions? @twistylittlepassages if you self-host, Discourse is free. Or it's $100/mo for them to run it for you. I talked my partner (who cooks for our community) into making it for a meal recently, and it is really ridiculously tasty! (It wasn't super popular, though. If you make it again, try yellow beets, since it just comes out a golden color that way. What do y'all do for pets who are terrified of fireworks? My parents' nbhd usually has ppl shooting off big boomy ones for several nights around the 4th. This is torture for my parents' dog, who freaks out to the point of destroying his surroundings and/or hurting himself. They've tried wrapping/holding him tightly, CBD treats, small enclosed spaces, prescription sedative (Trazodone). None seem to help. Mastodon, do you have any other ideas for us to try? |
