1) #Tusky plans to remove support for the Filters v1 api in 2025. If you know a server that implements the v1 filters, but not the v2, please tell me. For users on other servers, nothing will change. github.com/tuskyapp/Tusky/issu

2) Tusky will stop supporting Android 7 in 2025. If you are a user on Android 7, you can continue using existing Tusky versions, but you won't be able to upgrade anymore. github.com/tuskyapp/Tusky/issu

FYI: video audio continues after closing the video and switching to a different tab.

Will you work on a video playback tool?

This week we had the regular #Tusky Team meeting, and among a lot of good news (new team members, new release coming soon, huge refactorings being done) we also found some areas where we could need some help ->

We are thinking that it might be a good idea to have an external person or organization review our code from a security point of view. I have seen good security reviews of Android apps before, but I don't remember who did them so the first question here is if anyone has recommendations for us? Thanks to our sponsors we can pay for this.

Hi, I am Konrad, a software engineer with almost 10 years of experience in building Android Apps, both for small startups and huge corporations. My preferred language is Kotlin, but I'm also comfortable with Java and JavaScript. I also know quite a lot about building APIs with Spring Boot.
I am currently looking for a job as some kind of tech lead or senior dev, either remote or on-site in Vienna, Austria.

@ConnyDuck Good luck. I don't have any suggestions other than to try to attract attention by submitting PRs to major open source projects and, when justified, add those big names to your CV.

@ConnyDuck @leah hi where are you from? My Company is looking for developers.

New oilpaintings in my online store! Usually I'd announce this on the other site but I'm not gonna post there anymore when it can be avoided. Fedi-exclusive discount at end of thread!

A collage of 4 oil paintings: A abstract one with warm colors, two sunflower paintings, and a tiger painting

My favourite warm pigments on an natural linen canvas!
I also love the glitchy look it has. For some reason the paint cracked in the middle but that makes it even cooler? 30x40cm

The paniting on an eeasel. It is an abstract oil painting with some parts of the canvas shining through. The color palette is warm and goes from purple in the middle to yellow on the edge

Hi everyone, I'd like to announce that I'm no longer head of #Tusky development.

Conny Duck

What this means:
- More time for painting, photographing and other coding projects ☺️
- You should stop tagging me with #Tusky related questions, use @Tusky instead

What this does not mean:
- That I will stop contributing to Tusky
- That Tusky will stop being maintained, drop in quality or whatever. There is an awesome team working on the project!

@ConnyDuck Congratz! :cat_hug_triangle:

Google: Hello, for reasons we won't explain you can no longer submit updates to your app to the Playstore until you make changes to it we won't specify. We will send you the same mail again if you appeal but have fun trying regardless.
Also Google, a few days later: We feel like we haven't wasted enough of your time yet, please answer these questions about your recent app suspension, did you think it was as funny as we did?

@ConnyDuck I've set a reminder to google the next sentence in a few days :cat_si:

Is this some sort of easter egg? :acat_coming:
🎅Wasted Santa🍺

@ConnyDuck can you do some FOSS reporting tool and yank the play store app completely? It may come to that considering its google we are talking about. That or abandon tusky

Anyone know of a Mastodon instance that has a different video upload limit than the default 40mb? (configuration.media_attachments.video_size_limit in the /api/v1/instance response)

Also, do I assume correctly that upload_limit in a Pleroma /api/v1/instance response serves the same purpose but applies to all uploads no matter the type?

:umu: :umu:
@ConnyDuck yes, you're right about Pleroma.

It has no limits for media type, you can upload arbitrary files, therefore the limit is for everything. My instance has 50Mb limit

Very good #Tusky news: I just merged the pull request I was working on for the last months
👉 Complete refactoring of the timeline loading logic (which is basically the heart of the app) with Kotlin & coroutines
👉 Squashed some bugs within the timeline
👉 Code is now way cleaner than before, which should make adding new features faster and bugs easier to spot

#Tusky has been removed from the PlayStore by Google

Conny Duck

They don't seem to understand that one can view any content with Tusky and that it is not possible for the app developers to check any of it.

Conny Duck

When will the next Mastodon release be? A lot of app users are complaining about this bug github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/ @Gargron

Eugen Rochko

@ConnyDuck In the near future, actually. Adding some sign-up API related parts that we'll need soon at the moment.

Coming to #Tusky #nightly today: Redesign of the main interface including a new preference to move the tabs to the bottom. Give me all the feedback, nothing is final here.
