“Chrome users who declined to sync their Google accounts with their browsing data secured a big privacy win this week … claiming that Google secretly collected personal data without consent from over 100 million Chrome users who opted out of syncing.”

@Voline good it seems the court is thinking as a normal person?
Browser agnostic?

More like Chrome is anti-christ? more like draped in $atan'$ cloth woven by lawyers?

Do no harm !PAH!

Martyn Turner in the Irish Times

Cartoon by Martyn Turner, Irish Times, portraying 4 bombs being launched against Gaza, with a person fleeing while everything is already destroyed and blowing black smoke. One of the falling bombs has writing on it, stating "Please ignore if you are not a member of Hamas" while on the left of the cartoon there's a speech bubble coming from an unseen person saying "An atrocity for an atrocity... A war crime for a war crime..."

@Voline After what happened in Israel. What is the country going to do? Not respond. Take the second most deadly attack on Jews since WWII on the chin? Come on!

@Voline using an antijudaist trope from Christianity that misunderstood the rule due to missing context.

Awful. Really, as a cartoonist did they not think for a few minutes or are they just letting a subconscious need to stick it to the Jews run freely? Two bad choices.

The trope is the „an eye for an eye“ which was historically meant as a maximum limit, not a minimum limit. A progressive rule to avoid endless blood feuds. Which other people still had in the 20th century.

Tip for the new folk:
Often Mastodon’s features work the way they do because it was first populated by people who had been harassed on FB and the Birdsite.

For instance (not sorry), you cannot search Masto for a simple term. Only #hashtags. Say you’re having a private conversation about iguanas. Anti-iguana trolls will not be able to search for “iguanas”, find your conversation, and drop into it to say, “Iguana luvers suck!”

But if you are wanting to connect with new iguana fanciers on Mastodon, slipping an #iguanas hashtag somewhere into your posts will allow people to search for and find them.

@Voline - Why not have individuality instead of making it an alternative to #twitter Could well have much better & sophisticated features which outshine Twitter #twittermigration

Wow, that's smart! I went in (in 2019, I'm not new) thinking it was due to technical limitations and that it was more of an annoyance/tradeoff than anything else. Kudos for framing it another way.
