It is now Wikipedia official, after a long and painful debate.

It is a genocide.

Sidebar: and it is so, because the US has ensured that it will continue to be funded and will do everything in its power to let it continue.

@Migueldeicaza not sure if any Wikipedia articles have been banned in the US before, but I wouldn't be suprised if it becomes the first to be banned in the US

@Migueldeicaza This has been so heartbreaking. I cannot understand how human beings can continue to do this type of thing to other human beings.

@Migueldeicaza "funnily" the French version of the article is "Allegations of genocide during the Israeli attack on Gaza in 2023".

Swift's DocC has done so much for lifting the entire community.

It is the launchpad for a virtuous cycle to maximize the value of your code.

It seems almost obvious in retrospect, but I have spent decades struggling with this, and watched hundreds of projects flop in this last mile.

Kudos to whoever decided to fund this and see it through.

Give those guys a bonus and a promotion.

@Migueldeicaza this is exciting! It's so weird that you can build Swift GNOME apps in a nice declarative UI and export as Flatpaks, but I wonder what KDE users will get -- or if we can get away with GNOME apps for "Linux", meaning all distros 😵‍💫

@Migueldeicaza having done some gtk-rs, I have to say this looks absolutely wonderful.

The CDC recommends developers to write all new code in C and C++ in a strong rebuke to field experts.

It also dropped the requirement to use -fno-stack-protector on code exposed to the network for government and defense contractors to maximize America’s computational power.

@Migueldeicaza, the White House recommended using Rust to avoid buffer overflow in space applications, which I found a more apt metaphor. If you don't have a fever, you should be good to go. If you don't have pointers, you should be good to go.

Companies should heavily support and invest in open platforms.

Sure, getting some crumbs from the EU on the DMA might have some short term benefits. But you should take charge of your future.

Put your money where your mouth is: fund (and fund with passion, not just a few dollars here and there), support, and make opensource- based mobile and desktop operating systems your top priority.

Otherwise, you are just another capitalist swine fighting for a larger portion of slop from the trough.

@Migueldeicaza Fight for regulation: win-win. No need to leave action to the good will of individuals or corporations.
