I kinda want to ⭐ some of the map changesets people make, to let them know that adding an obscure public artwork or a big pile of addresses, or fixing a bus route is actually appreciated. If you're reading this and do that sort of thing, then thank you!

TFW terminology you grew up with are mentioned prefixed with "something called" in current tech writing. Even worse when the term is in quotes.

Something called PostScript
Something called a LAN Party
Something called a "Zip Drive"

An #OpenStreetMap :osm: contributor wrote 📝: " Everything You Wanted to Know About Vector Tiles (But Were Afraid to Ask)"

💬 "With 2024 officially being the year of OpenStreetMap vector maps let’s do a deep-dive into vector maps: their history and how the underlying vector tiles work in detail..."

Who can recommend a 2-3 hour hike in the Bozeman area? Trailhead less than 20 minutes from downtown. Somewhat strenuous but not insane. Thanks!

I find that it helps me to stop thinking about streaming services as subscription services. Consider a show or broadcast you want to watch and think about the monthly fee as “this is what it will cost me to watch that particular show”. Subscribe, cancel right away, and enjoy the show for your one time payment. And if the value is not there, it wasn’t worth watching in the first place.

EU Parliament ballot instructions: "How to print your ballot? Easy! Just go find some A4 paper and click print!"

Me: *goes on a quest to find A4 paper in the U.S.*

Derick Rethans

@mvexel Haha. I got mine too today, but... we (still) use A4 in the UK.

Valerie Norton

@mvexel I was going to tell you Canada is only two states away, but guess what! Mexico? Ha!

If actually important, the real answer is cut down some legal sized paper.

Be among the first to get this cool GSL license plate! (Not affiliated but I think it’s a cool design!) #SaltLakeCity #Utah newsie.social/@benwinslow/1124

@mvexel Where the antelope roam free… wait, why is there a pelican on there? I didn't know they had pelicans.

@RikerGoogling Well, maybe DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE INTRUDERS IN ENGINEERING...?!

@RikerGoogling wait there must be a way to violate the prime directive while tackling this … WWMBD?

I'm still in the middle of restoring my #Rhodes #piano -- but my fingers are itching to play. Can you recommend a cheap-ish (sub $500) keyboard that has no less than 73 keys (pref 88), good (not too light) action and has either decent grand piano sound or some semblance of the rhodes sound - or even both? I was thinking perhaps sweetwater.com/store/detail/Li ? #recommendation #instrument

Martijn van Exel

Now I’m thinking a Korg D1 - bit above my $500 budget but I should be able to pick one up used for less? I have my jazz chorus amp to hook it up to.. #Rhodes #piano #recommendation #instrument

Changing the my interpretation of the now-ubiquitous stars from "this is smart / powered by AI" to "I just hit you and now you're in pain" made my life marginally but measurably better.

I made this slide for a 2011 presentation. Do you think it holds up 13 years later?

After a winter slump I started getting into better shape again, but I couldn’t really get back to my old base level of 5k/30min. Then this weekend I got new shoes (my previous ones had 500+ miles on them) and I magically make 30:10. Do new shoes really make that much of a difference? I guess so!

Martijn van Exel

It was not a fluke (although today's time not quite as good as Monday's but I started with a mindset of 'today's going to be a mellow run'). New shoes definitely make a difference!
