So cool! A one-pixel-wide font that exploits subpixels. (Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/s/slGDHG3oyt) A few days ago someone opened a GTK PR for Android support. That is awesome!

@tristan957 hey @federicomena, looks like the contributor is having some issues with modern librsvg versions, I smell rust toolchain issues @tristan957 if there are Android GTK apps, they'll be more popular than mobile Linux apps so more developers will be interested and the year of The Linux phone will get closer which is good because Android is pretty terrible nowadays. A new rule for journalists. End the interview on the first egregious lie. Turn the lights out, switch off the recorder, get up and leave. And your report should state clearly that this is why the interview was terminated. It never should have been tolerated in the first place.

@davew An exception to this rule: if you can counter their lies with factual information then you may stick around and ask further questions. Gotta be good at this though, if someone's willing to tell a lie then they're going to be slippery and try to evade. Yes, I know, this is just gotcha journalism you might think but no, just regular investigative journalism here, sorry that the questions aren't going easy on you. Stop lying and they'll stop. It is worth remembering that Google cancelled JPEG XL because they're little bitches who can't accept someone is just an actual order of magnitude better at something they tried doing. @catraxx no the fucking freaky part is that google was actually a major contributor to jxl
like, they didnt lose in anything, as far as i can tell this was literally just a case of some google exec chosing to side with the aom over jpeg even though google had no stake in the matter and both can easily coexist Remember in 3rd grade when I didn't get an A on my art project because it was "Too creative"?

@nixCraft 1980 for me was a lot closer to 1Mhz/1Kb where did they get all that ram from? Even Bill Gates didnβt need more than 640K For me it greatly depends on how much I care about what I'm doing. If I don't care too much, I prefer GUI. If I care, I prefer CLI. @nixCraft It is because the command line is stable and does not change all the time. GUIs also generally lack consistency and modularity. It could be different in theory. i don't know why GUIs arre so bad and need to be change all time. People ask me why we don't support Apple products. Well, it's shit like this https://www.theverge.com/2024/8/9/24216181/apple-eu-app-store-services-fee-external-links

@eniko agreed, do not buy a new mac As an Apple user, technology enthusiast and quasi-fanβ¦ it is incredibly disheartening to witness the number of rakes that Apple leadership has stepped on over the last 5 years. @eniko i hope they get bonked to hell by the EU for adding all those arbitrary requirements and limitations γγγγγͺγβ:blobcat_pacifier:β |
@chrisphin Nice find β thanks!
@chrisphin how do you count the mandatory separating pixel between two digits ? to consider it usable, I think one must count two pixels wide
