A few days ago someone opened a GTK PR for Android support. That is awesome!

@tristan957@fosstodon.org There are so many fucking GTK apps I would love to be on android, like shortwave, music, bleachbit

@tristan957 I didn't even know that there was no Android support, I assumed there was because Qt definitely does

@tristan957 I wonder if it'd be possible to port to wasm while Broadwayd is still alive and... complete the circle :P

@tristan957 I tried to search something like that years ago, I really hope this is successful!

Unfortunately it didn't work for me on my Pixel 7a, but I might play a bit more later to see why

That's really exiting! I downloaded the APKs in the PR to my Pixel 7, but it said something like "Invalid package". Is there a quick way to fix this?

@jak2k maybe it's related to the signing key?

Yes, probably. Installing with Pi + Shizuku worked. The app is usable. I only noticed a missing icon for the second tab of the preferences and the windows buttons are of course somewhat redundant, but still very awesome.

I can't wait for more apps to be available on Android! Flatpak support would of course be a killer, but that's probably just dreaming at this point… :ablobcathappypaws:

@tristan957 Wow! An Android version of Inkscape in the future would be amazing🤞🤞

@tristan957 hey @federicomena, looks like the contributor is having some issues with modern librsvg versions, I smell rust toolchain issues

@tristan957 if there are Android GTK apps, they'll be more popular than mobile Linux apps so more developers will be interested and the year of The Linux phone will get closer which is good because Android is pretty terrible nowadays.
