At this point, becoming suspicious that Apple intentionally puts things into macOS to fill up your disk over time and make you want to upgrade.

This machine lost 800mb over the last two days, even though I didn't create anything or update any software.

I went looking for stuff that might have been generated. Here's one. A directory of…copies of the desktop background images (which already ship with the OS in another directory.)

macOS creates new copies at random times. Forever. What.

These are 5K images btw. 30mb PNG files. Hundreds of copies.

@cancel I hadn't made the connection with your avatar and the uxn logo. Are you involved with the project? It's super cool.

I originally posted this on IRC in 2020 as a bonus for the Hyperjam.

Here's how to exactly draw the Merveilles logo with only basic software paint tools. No measurement tool needed. Square, circle, select, copy, paste. Done in HyperCard. #theLogo

The Computer History Museum has released the source code for the Apple Lisa, today, on the Lisa's 40th anniversary. The whole thing.

@cancel Interesting thing about that screenshot - it's doctored. I've recreated the original - and it should be stretched so vertical dots' height is 1.5× their width as the Lisa didn't have square pixels! So the image on screen (4:3) looked more like the second image...

Uxn32 1.0 .zip was first released January 2022.

It's now December 2022. Uxn32 has a lot of new features and improvements, and bundles new and improved versions of Uxn ROMs.

In the year since 1.0 was released, the .zip has grown by negative 1.6kb.

@cancel 100 tons / year… would take 1000y to grab it all, *if* we stopped right now sending more into it.

Also, how much CO2 does this release? I guess it's better than nothing.

Unity (former game engine company) has merged with an actual adware and malware distribution company. That's not an exaggeration. Fake Flash installers, was blacklisted by Microsoft's anti-malware tool, VirusTotal entires, that kind of thing.

Don't build your games on engines you don't have the source code to.

@cancel Freaking crazy. Never relied on Unity but know many who do. What a shame.

@cancel From what I understood, installCore is just a tool for software distribution that includes monetization by advertisements. What I didn't understand is who caused it's bad image: was it the installCore itself or the way third parties used it?
