When asked if creators should be compensated for their work being used to train AI, Mark Zuckerberg said, โI think individual creators or publishers tend to overestimate the value of their specific content in the grand scheme of this.โ That's pretty rich coming from someone who never had an original thought in his life. Someone whose empire is based on stealing and buying ideas.

@warandpeas   Hereโs the part where we have to do that uncomfortable thing that feels a little awkward and self-promotional and vaguely transactional. But it's also unavoidable if we want to continue existing in any capacity that remotely resembles the version of us youโve come to know. The reality is that while thousands, even millions, of people might enjoy our work every week, โenjoyโ doesnโt necessarily translate to โsupportโ in any kind of literal, sustainable sense.

@warandpeas It's almost never a bad day for me. But it's almost always a badass day for me. ๐ค๐  @warandpeas Is it purposeful that the hill is frowning in the third panel? Because it really contributes to the tragedy of it all. We cannot believe it, but we've been making War and Peas for 13 years now! In that time we have created hundreds (or thousands even?) of comic strips and while we sometimes feel like old hands, we still always feel a tingling sensation when we post a new comic.

 @warandpeas This was actually a plot point in Paper Girls, the time-travel graphic novel series - one of the characters learns that she'll die of leukemia in a few years, so she's able to take on the nasty carnivorous human-sized germ monster and say "I know that I don't die today, so you can't kill me!" :-)  @warandpeas 5th frame shows him as a 15 year old in a hospital bed permanently tied to machines, nurse comments "there's nothing we can do for him, but it's illegal to turn them off" Let's make sure we can see each other without any gatekeepers or algorithms: https://warandpeas.com/subscribe/ |
