The existing Bridge solutions for #BlueSky did not appeal to me. Today, I took the first steps to integrate BlueSky for @mastogram An update might be available this week.

The same innovation that turned several million users away from Twitter. I don't quite understand the point of distorting the block function like that. What commercial or marketing context is there?

@henry Don't worry about the site formerly known as Twitter. You're on Mastodon now. You're safe! 😆

@henry maybe to allow more scrapers or bots? I don't see how it makes sense either.

@henry Being slightly fair, blocking never really worked to stop people viewing anyway. It's trivial to make a second account for just viewing.

I'm contemplating whether it's worth delving into BlueSky. On one hand, their product is noticeably more convenient compared to Mastodon. On the other hand, what is BlueSky really? What is their strategy? Having secured $8 million in a seed round, they've entered a predictable game. Despite their current promises, this may lead to standard recommendation algorithms aimed at increasing advertising volume. As an entrepreneur, I understand the need to build a monetization model, and there's nothing wrong with that. But the question is: will BlueSky become yet another mass-market product that sooner or later ends up in the hands of another Elon Musk, as happened with Twitter? So I've decided for myself: BlueSky is interesting, but it's not worth fully transitioning from Mastodon just yet.

@henry
I'm on both. I've often wondered how Bluesky is going to stay in business, since they have no ads and still charge nothing. I'd be happy to pay $5 a month. I was for Counter Social for a couple years.

@henry I dont thgink so.
X is no longer usable, because of Musks hating stuff.
Mastodon with its decentiliced structure is also not perfect
Bluesky: they now have reached 12 Million User.

I give all a chance

@henry I personally feel like the monetization of social media is just not the right path. I’ve never really liked engaging with stuff on Twitter, especially the longer that it’s around. Same thing with FaceBook. At that point they don’t really care about what the users want. It’s about what the investors want.

They just aren’t compatible concepts.

Lately, I've been feeling out of sorts. It seems I overestimated my abilities and took on more than I could handle. My sleep schedule is off, discipline has weakened, my diet leaves much to be desired, and I've been battling a depressive state for the past two weeks. The most interesting thing is that I realize that objectively everything is fine, but inside it's like there's darkness that drains energy and makes me see the world through grey glasses.

But yesterday, I decided to pull myself together: I got up at my usual 6:20, went straight to the gym, and even set a 48-hour fast for myself. And, surprisingly, the depressive state literally vanished. I now understand that the efforts were not in vain.

@henry I keep this cartoon on my desktop, for those times when my brain is beating me up for stumbling. Some days are hard...sheesh, some months are hard, and sometimes our brain isn't as helpful giving us a hand up when we trip as we might like.

But, we get back up. That's the important bit. We get back up. :blobcathearthug:
