slipped past the blog post, but #postmarketOS GNOME now ships with green accent colors by default. #GNOME 47 looks amazing :D

Thanks for this @fossdd

@cas @fossdd Would be neat if GNOME supported tinting the folder icons at some point. Looks a bit out of place with the blue & green clashing here ...

so @elly got the SOF audio dsp working on the lenovo ideapad slim 3 (mediatek 8186) and immediately proceeded to run celeste on postmarketOS (with a fedora container)

ok role switching (OTG mode) actually kinda works now. you have to attach the usb cable twice for some reason but we can fix that...

ended up just copying the sm8250 implementation @0xB0D wrote and editing it for sdm845 and it just worked!

no PD yet either but that can come later (op6 doesn't support it anyway)

how do folks feel about switching the SDM845 #postmarketOS devices over to U-Boot?

the main benefits will be:

- support for falling back to previous kernels (so when an upgrade fails you can just boot the last kernel)
- mass storage mode?

installing multiple distros would also be technically possible with this via a shared ESP and custom partitioning, you could run @mobian and @postmarketOS for example, although this wouldn't be really easy or "supported" i guess.

@cas @mobian @postmarketOS hmm, is edk2 considered too? or not worth it

Seshan "Seshpenguin"

@postmarketOS @cas @mobian EFI booting is one of those things that makes a phone feel more β€œopen”, I think a lot of people would appreciate the familiarity it brings on top of the other benefits.

@cas @mobian @postmarketOS Love the idea, I want to switch my OnePlus 6T over whenever it's ready.

had a lazy easter monday getting the touchscreen working on the #OnePlus 8T

here it is at 120hz running #postmarketOS #GNOME mobile!

the high refresh and 2 years newer hardware definitely makes for a smoother experience overall.

the image i couldn't share...

this was from last summer when we first got #GNOME Mobile booting with systemd on postmarketOS

#postmarketOS @postmarketOS

also sharing a picture where we booted the first time into gdm with systemd!
it was a lot of fun doing the initial bootstrap and seeing if this was viable at all :blobCat_awauu:

@cas @postmarketOS Thanks for your work on this, it's a lot of fun to play with it!

would anyone be interested in remote access to any of the following devices for the purposes of #Linux mainline development and testing? You'd be able to power cycle the device and boot an Android boot.img (kernel + dtb + ramdisk), I'm also open to using these devices in CI

* OnePlus 6/6T - #Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
* OnePlus 7 and/or 7 pro - #Qualcomm #Snapdragon 855 / sm8150
* OnePlus 9 Pro - Snapdragon 888 (sm8350), however i haven't yet found out how/if UART is exposed on this device.
* Google Pixel 2 XL, 3, or 3 XL - Snapdragon 835 (msm8998) or Snapdragon 845 (sdm845). (Only have one usb-cereal adapter so only one of these is viable right now)
* #Fairphone 2 - MSM8974
* #Fairphone 5 - QCM6490
* #LG G6 - msm8996 (if someone can find UART and find a workaround for the "charger wet" detection being stuck on)
* #Samsung j3 (j3xnlte) - some spreadtrum SoC - Only if you can find UART for me

I don't have things fully set up here but I'm trying to figure out what i should prioritise.

If any of these sounds useful to you then please get in touch with me! I'm especially interested in folks from the #LinuxMobile community, #Kernel maintainers, or anyone else with an interest in upstream Linux support on phones. Please have some kind of public presence in a related field and tell me what your usecase is.

* DM me on matrix - @ caleb:postmarketos.org
* Email me - caleb@connolly.tech

Please boost for reach!

@cas this sounds like a pretty cool service, I hope you'll tell us how you set that up.

@cas > #Samsung j3 (j3xnlte) - some spreadtrum SoC - Only if you can find UART for me

perhaps the carkit cable from wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Ser would work? this device uses the same muic as a few msm8916 devices which should have uart over microusb as seen in this table: wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Mic

@cas I wish I was clever enough to need them to work on. Very cool thing, hope you get some interest and some use. πŸ˜ƒ
