A spaceship landed in the park. A door dilated and an alien stepped out.

"Greetings, Earthlings! You may recall we landed here not long ago, and asked to meet your leaders."

The alien paused.

"We met the Earthlings you indicated. Very funny. Now, take us to your real leaders."

@MicroSFF

Of course, they WERE our real leaders.

Accounting for light speed delays, we cobbled together actors who looked like the members of the rehydrated United World Security Council from the 1966 film _Batman_.

The aliens were satisfied.

Golden Star

@MicroSFF I was thinking of sending the text from a certain video about an alien in my phone but I really don't want to get banned

- Doctor, tell me the truth, I can handle it!
- To be honest, we have very little hope of recovery at this point. He just said "There's a saying in SCRUM" non-ironically in a meeting.

@Unixbigot that'll put armadillos in your trousers!

@Unixbigot do you know about the IMDb Easter egg? Most films are rated out of a possible 10 stars… m.imdb.com/title/tt0088258

@bookstodon Of all the great Tom Gauld cartoons, and there are many (BAKING WITH KAFKA being my favorite collection) this one still cracks me up every time I see it!

Three authors are on a panel, each with a large poster of their respective new book covers behind them.

The first author introduces their book, HORSEBACK DOCTOR, by saying "This book was inspired by my previous career as a surgeon and my time riding with cowboys in Wyoming."

The second author introduces their book, LOVE AT THE PATISSERIE, by saying "To prepare for my book I spent a year apprenticed to a baker in Avignon and edited a lonely-hearts column for the local paper."

The third author is noticeably silent. We look behind them to see that the title of their book is THE LITERARY FESTIVAL MURDERS.

@kimlockhartga @bookstodon aw, the murder author could have said something here, like, "Hello, all you lovely people! It's you! You inspire me." :)

@kimlockhartga @bookstodon

Note that Isaac Asimov did actually publish a murder-mystery novel called "Murder at the A.B.A", which is (or was) the American Bookseller's Association convention.

Good novel, too!

A short-tailed white, brown, green, and purple cat pounces in from the top-right. Its eyes are wild and grin open-mouthed as it stares at you. Text above and below read “meow ‘n shit” and “ニャニャン, MF’r! あたしが猫だよ!”

Going to die on that hill, but not every ancient #theatre necessarily is an #Amphitheatre. 🤷‍♂️

Drawing on squared paper showing an ancient theatre (half a circle) on the left (note underneath reading: "theatre = "place for viewing") and an amphitheatre (full circle) on the right (note underneath reading: "amphi = 'on both sides' (around)".

@jens2go i thought amphi theatre means they had plays and show fighting
Antiqueight

@jens2go I did not know this - I thought the amphi meant something else. I will happily stand with you on this.

Lizzie

@jens2go@mastodon.social just reminding me that my city built an outside theater and are calling it the "Amphitheater" and it bugs the crap out of me lol

Putting my money where my mouth is.

I feel like we, computer users of the world, have something special in Haiku.

It feels like hope.

I would like to wish everybody who uses Discord as the sole place for FAQ's, tech support and install guides a very merry "Go Fuck Yourself!"

@Jencen I will skip any software that does that, unless I have no other option. I would rather build my own than deal with Discord for documentation and support.

Amber

@Jencen@furry.engineer That's why I use discord & skype for my open source projects!

(this is a joke please do not crucify me)

@Jencen discord is one of the worst things that happened to open source lately :-/

Everything is true. Jesus walked in Utah. God is an alien astronaut. Buddha attained enlightenment. Thor sends the thunder. The universe is both with and without purpose and meaning at the same time.

Only way to stay sane is to hang the sense of it and believe what makes you happy.
