So while I was out gathering the Christmas dinner, my husband messed around with some leftover gingerbread dough.

Photo of various cat shaped gingerbread cookies on a piece of baking parchment. They have been decorated with white icing in random patterns. Three with the initials of our past cats. One has been decorated to look like a cat x-Ray, the cat having eaten a fish…of course it has.

@helenclayton just gathering then, presumably not a lot of hunting

@helenclayton@mas.to Heh cute, that skeleton one is nice! Including the one in its stomach! Very creative! :D

This is Gatsby who lives down the road. Always runs to say hello (except when there’s some pigeon-watching to be done) and gives the biggest bunts (my jeans are now covered in cat hair). He was also very talkative today.

A solid 12/10.

Photo of I think a cream colour point British shorthair cat trotting along a pavement to say hello, his grey striped tail sticking straight up in the air.
Fading lavender flowers overhang the pavement and there are a couple of parked cars in the background.
Photo of same cat rubbing his smooshed cream and grey face against my be-jeaned knee (as I crouch on the pavement).

I have just found a treasure trove of old family photos. I haven’t got time to sort through them all but…

My maternal grandfather as a boy with his cat! (I presume it’s his rather than a stage prop. I remember him being a cat lover.)

Old black and white photo (slightly sepia) of a boy in a sailor suit standing next to a cloth-covered table on which sits a floofy tabby cat. Both are looking at the camera. It looks like the photo may have been taken in a studio.

We turn around and there are more kittens!

A photo of a procession of three kittens - tabby and white, tabby, and black - leading down a couple of terracotta garden steps to their mum, a grey tabby sitting in loaf fashion eyeing the camera warily.

Back at the gîte some smol voidlets are becoming a bit more mobile. Very wobbly on their feets and not at all sure about people (quite rightly).

A photo of two tiny black kittens exploring a gravelled corner of garden. Some planks of wood that initially been a barrier are now a playground. One kitten is practising a loaf at the top of a plank ramp, partially hidden by foliage on the right. The other is stalking the ramp in the centre. The scene is framed by red roses and foliage. The base of a garden umbrella is visible, part of their makeshift den.

A #Caturday themed photo memory from 10 years ago…a cake topper I made for a friend’s little girl Olive’s first birthday, based on her favourite story books ‘The Church Mice’ by Graham Oakley. The cake was the top tier from my friend’s wedding cake which I only had to decorate.

#Food

Photo of a cake topped with fondant figures of a marmalade tabby cat (Sampson), with a white bib, sitting surrounded by little brown mice in a circle of supposed garden (a green disc of icing edged with blades of icing grass and sprinkled with pastel coloured icing blossoms). The square cake is covered in white fondant icing and sprinkled with more blossoms and the name ‘Olive’ piped in green icing.

For a late #caturday…this photo of my little Billy Bobster just popped up in my ‘on this day’ 11 years ago. A special cat who wasn’t with us for long but left a lasting impression.

Photo of a small grey and white tabby cat curled up asleep on a grey fleece blanket on a cat tower / ‘activity centre’ positioned in front of a white radiator. He famously fell off the top tier while fast asleep, bless his little white floofy socks. We had guests at the time who remember Billy as the cat who ‘fell asleep’.

Hard to believe that this skinny little stray turned out to be the chonkiest of cats. The very much missed Alfie (best cat ever) on his ‘gotcha day’ for #ThrowbackThursday.

#CatsOfMastodon

Photo of a slim-looking brown tabby cat standing on a cream fleece blanket spread on a bed (a human bed). He is looking straight at the camera, looking defiant. He is standing over a plushie green cactus toy (character from the game Katamari Damacy) that he has been tussling with. A sign of chaos to come.
