As long as the code behind "smart" home devices is proprietary, these companies are free to spy on us as much as they like. Help us fight back: tell your friends about free software and urge then to join the FSF! Support #FreeSoftware. fsf.org

@fsf Let me list a few examples of FOSS programs that spy on you:

Firefox, Thunderbird, Tor Browser, Brave Browser, Waterfox, Librewolf. Source: spyware.neocities.org/articles

This is just a small portion of them all. It has been shown over and over that being FOSS does nothing whatsoever to prevent the spying, so why do you keep misleading people?

Software freedom is the prerequisite for many of the issues people struggle with when it comes to technology, privacy breaches, user lock-in, DRM, and hardware obsolescence. The role of freedom in privacy cannot be ignored. Support #FreeSoftware fsf.org

New versions of Windows might change the UI or underlying components, but they don't change the only thing important to know about Windows: it's nonfree software. Choose software that actually respects its users instead. u.fsf.org/3eu

@fsf

Does the FOSS Mozilla Firefox respect its users? Because it keeps sending unsolicited requests (as in, spying) all over the place.

Why do you keep posting the same stuff every day, and sometimes several times a day? Everyone already knows and can look it up.

Why do you pretend FOSS gives us anything special? It is easily taken over by corporations, like Audacity was. "User respect" is certainly NOT built-in into FOSS by default.
