I finally got round to making a proper blueprint version of the dwarven mountain city map. Ive also re-done that ink bleed effect on the text which makes the image pop more and look more authentic. I’ve put it on my Etsy store, link on my website. #mapping #cartography #ttrpg

Do you spend long boring days on the road riding between dungeons? Does the bard's endless singing the same travel songs get on your nerves? Is the halfling asking "are we there yet?" again? …. You need to travel in style, you need to travel at speed, you need to FLY.

This is actually a map I’ve drawn for my current game, and if you want it, full resolution, head over to DriveThruRPG (link on the download page of my website) and pick it up for FREE.

Personal map for my dungeon escape scenario using loads of nasty Lovecraftian creatures from Sandy Peterson’s Cthulhu Mythos for 5e book. The players start the game captured by Elder things who are keeping and experimenting on sentient beings from across space and time. As such I have each player thinking the game is a different genre from each other, hopefully this will lead to entertaining interactions, but also means we have swords and spells fighting next to antimatter rifles. #ttrpg

As a fan of the genre aswell as the #ttrpg I must say I love these.

Cthulhu inspired map for a DnD game I’m running using Sandy Petersons Cthulhu for dnd book. This building is effectively a zoo/research building run by Elder Things and filled with horrific creatures both inside and outside the holding cells. Will the players escape? #catrography #ttrpg

@chloethecartographer Not sure its what you were going for, but it makes me think of the insides of a transparent, multicellular, microorganism. Like a hydra or tardigrade.

This Moonshae map is going to be great, I am struggling with finding the colours that look good and still give an old map feel. Here I am starting to mark on the ocean currents, important for navigation, next will be ocean depth markers and trade routes. #worldbuilding #ttrpg

The Moonshae map is taking form, this is now very close to what I’ve been aiming for. It’ll pop into life when I add more text, but you can see the concept, 3d rendered terrain on old sea chart. I’m going to stack the final map with a fair few more details, #ttrpg #cartography

@chloethecartographer Seeing the multiple compass rose's had me renewing my old attempt to understand why there were so many of them on old maps. The answer is Rhumb Line networks that were used for sailing navigation. So now I know that. Map is looking great!

Combined layers of my Moonshae map so far. The render is low resolution it’ll look better when I do it properly. #worldbuilding #cartography #ttrpg

@chloethecartographer

That looks great, when you say render have you modelled it in 3D?

I really like the style.

Continuing with experiments on the Moonshae map. I want to layer lots of information, here is a land type colour map. I’ll likely change the colours, but I’m happy with shapes and choice of categories. I need to see how it looks on the 3d topology. #cartographer #realmslaw #ttrpg

Mood board. I don’t usually start with one, it was nice to use this to gather my my thoughts. Big inspirations for this map included the game dwarf fortress, the Alpine cross section drawings of Albert Heim, the wonderful sketchbook of technical designs by Francois Delaroziere who’s work I adore.

The dwarven city cross section map is finally finished. A geological survey focused on rock types feels a likely product of an underground society. As a result I’ve made the strata and faults of the rocks the most vibrant and detailed part of the map, leaving the tunnels and buildings as mostly negative space. I’m super pleased with how it turned out. Map will be on sale as an art print soon. #ttrpg #gamemap #gamemaps #mapmaker #mapmakers #cartography #cartographer #cavecity

@chloethecartographer I don't know if you want to do commissions but I bet you'd get clients if you offer to draw people's fortresses in Dwarf Fortress, this is so in vibe
