@thunderbird This makes sense. Apple Mail is a good email client. The other Linux email clients aren’t very good. Evolutions Exchange support is the primary reason to fire up something else.

We are thrilled to share an important development milestone for Thunderbird 114: Firefox Sync is up and running! 🎉 Email, Calendar, and Contact syncing works without issue so far. We still have work to do, but we're looking forward to making Firefox Sync available through Thunderbird Beta in a few months. (By the time it hits Beta, we should be syncing most of your Thunderbird settings, too.) You'll never lose your Thunderbird profile again!

How about sharing the synced calenders via CalDAV? Also syncing PGP keys with E2EE and upcoming K9 rebranding would be so awesome!

*A quick update 🧵 on the Thunderbird 102 rollout* Auto-upgrades on all operating systems haven't been turned on yet because we're gathering more data about a few bugs. It's an overly-cautious approach, but we believe it's the right thing to do....
Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox
It would be careless to roll out upgrades to more than 20 million users all at once without first checking, double-checking, and triple-checking that there are no major issues to disrupt your experience. We'll do our absolute best to keep you posted, and we're confident your patience will be rewarded with the best version of Thunderbird you've ever used. Thanks for sticking with us, and for supporting open-source software!

THE PROBLEM: You want to use Thunderbird 102 right now, but your client is not auto-updating. THE SOLUTION: In order to ensure smooth, bug-free upgrades, we're rolling out the automatic update from Thunderbird 91 to 102 gradually. However, you can download Thunderbird 102 manually from https://thunderbird.net and install it in the same location you have Thunderbird 91 installed. This will serve as an upgrade from 91 to 102, and your data, settings, and profile will be preserved.

Happy #Thunderbird102 release day! 📩 🎉 Just to set expectations, we anticipate rolling out Thunderbird 102 by early evening, Eastern Standard Time. (This means it will be very late for our European friends.) We'll keep you posted as the day progresses.

@thunderbird Would be useful for deGoogled phones, if the new Version keeps being available via @fdroidorg . Same for folks who do not want any apps from the Google store. And please let it be usable for tablets too.

@thunderbird @k9mail Ähnliches Engagement sollte mal in die Chat-Funktion investiert werden und dort wenigstens die MOMEMO-Verschlüsselung zu integrieren.

@thunderbird @k9mail Well look at that, instead of making your own you are colaborating with something that's already out, open source, and awesome already! Good news all around if you ask me.

Q: Will Thunderbird get a “minimize to tray” option? A: This feature exists on Windows, but we regularly hear from our #Linux users they want it too. The problem is that the concept of “tray” on Linux is not a consistent or standardized thing. But how about a workaround? If you're on Linux, check out a Flatpak app called "Birdtray:" https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.ulduzsoft.Birdtray

@thunderbird What I’d really like is to have a way for Thunderbird to launch in the background at startup/login and provide notifications, without having to launch it manually or have the main window pop up automatically just as I’m starting to do something. That could mean a tray icon, but for Linux I think perhaps a daemon/service could fulfill the same use case and be more consistent across distros.

@thunderbird freedesktop.org does have specifications for tray and tray icons that should work in every conforming DE.

What do people need to start to use encryption?
(Moreba question for the audience 😉)
@thunderbird
Why aren’t #prettyeasyprivacy and #autocrypt supported in #Thunderbird any more? 🔏
@thunderbird How do we make encryption easier to use when the bulk of the providers have a financial interest not to have encryption (Google, Hotmail, other places that scan emails for data)?"
Also, is there a way of using SSH keys instead of SSL much like AGE encrypts things? Or Gemini's TOFU (trust on first use)?
