We are thrilled to share an important development milestone for Thunderbird 114: Firefox Sync is up and running! 🎉

Email, Calendar, and Contact syncing works without issue so far.

We still have work to do, but we're looking forward to making Firefox Sync available through Thunderbird Beta in a few months.

(By the time it hits Beta, we should be syncing most of your Thunderbird settings, too.)

You'll never lose your Thunderbird profile again!

@thunderbird Is there a PPA for the beta somewhere ?

🤣

looks like a good idea to me by the way. But I'd love to see FF and TB perhaps allow sync through a custom service so people aren't forced to use someone else's server for their data - a lot of us would probably love to run our own sync server and set FF/TB up to sync to that instead of Mozilla's servers.
(next someone will tell me that's already possible by compiling the code in repo and adjusting a config parameter...)
Food for thought anyway

@thunderbird Can you use your FF sync account for it or do you need a new TB account?

@thunderbird The big question is, how secure that backup is? E2E?

@thunderbird

How about sharing the synced calenders via CalDAV?

Also syncing PGP keys with E2EE and upcoming K9 rebranding would be so awesome!
