@samhenrigold Better tools. Blender gets away with being Blender because it's free. There's no powerful 3D tool with a UI as approachable as any 2D design tool. Spline might be getting there, but it's web first

@samhenrigold @michaelsteeber Blender is really hard to get into but there's a point where it switched from "this is the worst interface ever" to "this is one of the best interfaces ever" for me. It's far from easy or approachable but when you get it you GET it. I think it's kind of incredible how they managed to be this consistent with how things work and behave in an app of this complexity. @marcel @michaelsteeber how long did that transition take you? i'm willing to keep going at it but i need to see some light at the end of the tunnel @samhenrigold @marcel I had the app for years and I'd open every few months, feel defeated, and close it. 2.8 changed the game. It became just approachable enough that I could make some progress. But even after modeling 3 stores in it, I feel like I've touched 5% of the features. It's massive. @samhenrigold @michaelsteeber An intense couple of days. 3D is still hard and I don't understand most of what you can and should do but at least the interface doesn't feel like a complicated mess anymore. One thing that took me a while: Using keyboard shortcuts is a must. Learning those and understand the surprisingly thought through logic behind them is half the battle. |
@michaelsteeber I tried Blender for the first time this weekend and my god it's bad. I like to think I'm good at Softwareâ„¢ but this is so beyond me. I wish Reality Composer Pro was better at modeling.
