I'm often asked why you can't login to @pixelfed with your username

It's a security feature ⬇️

@pixelfed I've often wondered why we can't log in using our username rather than email? Our response: @user That is a security feature! Usernames are public knowledge. By limiting authentication to a semi-private identifier like email addresses, we can reduce the impact of brute forcing passwords/account takeovers. We hope that makes sense!
