@FelipeFelop That is a security feature!

Usernames are public knowledge.

By limiting authentication to a semi-private identifier like email addresses, we can reduce the impact of brute forcing passwords/account takeovers.

We hope that makes sense!

We are considering offering an opt-in setting to be able to log in with your username.

@FelipeFelop Yes that's a good point, but at the same time, some people prefer to have private or service specific addresses using +suffixes, so that is why we are taking this approach!

@pixelfed how many images can be in a single post on Pixelfed? Can you mix horizontal and verticay cropped photos on the same post? Lastly, is Pixelfed different than mastodon or does it work with the same servers? I’m new to all this, but a quick learner.
