@grishka It was not for a lack of trying! The last 2G service in the US is through T-Mobile and they stopped accepting new 2G activations a few years back. Once I got past the captive portal, the shitty bus wifi was a pretty good simulation of edge sam henri gold, it's curious how differently mobile networks evolve around the world. No plans to stop 2G service here. No plans to deploy 5G either. @samhenrigold But how did it sound through headphones? The speaker is still not really an adequate way to listen to music on a phone, even if they made it better. @Gargron The first gen has a recessed headphone jack, my only 3.5mm cable doesn’t fit! Apparently they did this because Jobs thought the headphone jack was ugly. I just ordered an adapter on ebay, I’m curious how the DAC is @Gargron Though I am curious how many producers are considering how their mix sounds on phone speakers since it’s increasingly a common way people consume music. Via videos on social media and whatnot @Gargron @samhenrigold i forget who but $famous_producer_in_70s was well known for mixing the sound for… 8 tracks in car stereos since that’s how most people would be listening to it! @Gargron @samhenrigold Whenever someone on the public transport is using their phone speakers to listen to their music, I have the urge to smash their device. Not only because of the bad sound, but also because this simply is an annoyance for the surrounding people.
Michael, I also observed that whenever someone plays music loudly in public, be it through their phone or car stereo, it's almost always the shitty, tasteless kind of music too |
@samhenrigold Wished my 1g still worked.
