Public Transport is one of the most requested features. Check the bottom of this OpenStreetMap iceberg :)

@organicmaps In my opinion, the transport companies/authorities should enter the bus routes. The sad thing is that some transport companies/authorities do not have them digitally.
(I work as traffic planner in public transport).

@fedora the community can get that data from companies, or help companies to easily share it, using free and convenient tools.

@organicmaps @fedora what would be some of those tools? Would like to go and try to convince them to do whatever needed, but I have no idea what the requirements are

@organicmaps If you get StreetComplete to add it, I'll gladly help contributing that as well.

@organicmaps I think one of the bigger issues is knowing when the lines are not available as well. Public holidays and so on are somewhat straightforward at least, but maintenance, snow, etc. is tough.

Also as an aside: please add alt-text to the images you share to make the fediverse more accessible and inclusive 🙂.

@organicmaps Thank you for reminding me, I almost forgot about the squiggly roads in my area 🤠

@organicmaps This is accurate, I have nearly given up figuring out how to add route relations, and there is conflicting info everywhere, including the wiki.

@organicmaps OSM should not try to be a complete solution for public transport routing. Rather a tool like organic maps should use API's from transport providers to get up to date route and time information.
Some information is just not suited to be in OSM. You will always need more data sources to get a complete mapping application
