@analogfusion It looks like Scarecrow video in Seattle has DVD rental by mail now.

I fully believe in physical media, but it’s rare when I buy a DVD now. Unlike an album that I’ll listen to multiple times, I just don’t rewatch movies often enough to justify the cost.

I’ve got too much catching up to do on things I haven’t seen.

@colorblindcowboy That makes sense, and I'm glad to hear rentals are still an option. I don't buy a lot of movies, but I do invest in favorite TV series as I like to revisit them now and then.

I'm currently debating whether to buy Star Trek: TNG on Blu-Ray. I bought a second hand complete set on DVD, but the Blu-Ray version has been remastered. Judging from sample screen images, it's a major improvement over the old broadcast copies.

@analogfusion Oh yeah? I’d be curious to see the quality difference. I suppose I can see on YouTube. I hope they left the aspect ratio the same. I’ve seen some shows change it, and use a variety of different tech to adjust.

@colorblindcowboy You can see some sample comparisons on Amazon user reviews. The colors sparkle and some effects have apparently been improved. Someone said the episodes are letter-boxed, which I'm fine with.

@analogfusion but that means they cropped the top/bottom or utilized off-scene footage. Curious. I’ll have to take a look at how they did.

@colorblindcowboy It's possible I'm misinformed. As long as I get all the footage in high-res, I'll be happy. :)

@analogfusion It’s like we’re in the reverse of the old pan-scan days when movies were reformatted for small screens.
