@dansup I don’t use Pixelfed because my pictures aren’t good but I wanted to say thank you for actually reevaluating.

This whole Meta business has me of two minds. I’ve always wanted *everyone* to be part of the #Fediverse, businesses included. I also dislike Meta, but think the eyes it puts on the fediverse through Threads will be a positive.

I also know I may be wrong.

I appreciate you working so hard on this. It's honestly a tough situation and I know you've been getting criticized from all sides. I think where you landed is a very reasonable compromise that gets everyone what they want with little effort.

@dansup I think your opt-in solution is a good middle ground to address even the moral questions around federating with Threads.

@dansup You didn't mess up. Browsing that thread about half agree and half object so like the BBC you must have got your decision about right 🙂

To the few having hissy fits and threatening to leave I would point out that it isn't a democracy and it isn't a monopoly so you could go somewhere you like the way it works better or even <whisper>create your own instance where you can run it how you like</whisper>. If you're flouncing out don't let the door handle catch your arse on the way out 😜

@dansup I think this is a good solution -- default to blocking Threads but let individual Pixelfed users decide if they want to allow it.
