While I did initially sign the #fediPact, I have since changed my mind*.

Users will have the ability to block instances (domain blocks) in the next version, and I think this will provide the best solution for both sides.

@dansup Do you see the firehose coming? I cannot seem to be able to follow anyone from threads in Mastodon yet

Thank you for the clarification. I appreciate your thoughtfulness about this and your willingness to change your mind. I am not on one side or the other about all this. I feel like Activity Pub has created enough safeguards that if Threads gets too out of hand, they can easily be isolated.

@dansup Does this mean that I'll be able to start following photographers on mstdn.jp too? (genuinely asking in good faith)

@dansup having options is good - I would not want us to just be "censored" in the Fediverse...

That's just for pixelfed.social, right? So any other server would still be able to have a different policy

Cool. Then I don't see an issue. Threads is still in very early stages of experimental federation. Anyone who doesn't like this policy will have ample time to switch instances.

If anything, this could help Pixelfed become more decentralized.
