@mcc the last time I saw this on android, discord had dumped proper android support and replaced the android version with essentially buggy and slow emulation of the ios version Helpfully, Discord has added, above your friends list in the messages tab, a new feature where the avatars of four random people you don't actually fucking talk to are displayed really big in giant rounded rectangles. I have not yet figured out how to turn it off. @mcc oh no have they rolled out the new layout they've been trialling for a while? it sucks. apparently it's not as bad on iOS, but jfc on Android it just *sucks*. edit: s/sucks/sucked, apparently iOS and Android are now roughly in parity. still dislike it, but hey, at least Android isn't arbitrarily worse! @blobcat @mcc hmm... it definitely still felt jank earlier today, but after turning the "new UI" toggle off and on again, it does seem like the swipe-to-go-back thing works a *lot* nicer all of a sudden. except for in settings, but eh. fair enough! @mcc but that’s actually where my weekly chat moved! And I couldn’t find where else to get back to it, so I use that square carousel thing (this is exactly what I meant by having to hunt)  @mcc now that Omegle is gone, Discord sees an opportunity to horn in on the "don't you want to see some random stranger's dong?" market.    @mcc@mastodon.social @blobcat@wetdry.world @mcc@mastodon.social I'm not on vanilla discord so I didn't get the popup :3 @mcc the other day I went to hang up, and knew there were four people on the call. The UI was just that orange gradient with no people visible, despite them still talking. Like. This software used to work. Now it’s a game of finding where they hid the only thing I use it for (voice), every time I launch it. At this point I’m not sure I’ve seen ANY other software be this rapid in its pointless UI churn. Some might’ve been worse, but this feels like a rewrite every 45 days.   @mcc Welcome to the start of your hostage tour! You press the buttons WE want you to press. You jump through the hoops, WE want you to jump through! There is no escape! ... unless you finish the tour. (oh! please make sure to rate our app! k thks by!)  At least you can always downgrade. But it's really a shame no one is making third-party apps for these kind of things anymore. |
