I was going through the same pain at a smaller scale.
25k followers, photography wasnt really a business and I have a full time job but it just murdered any chance of that in the platform.
Hundreds of dollars per post to be seen by a fraction of followers was insane.
@Rjdlandscapes @KiwiEV if you think about it, pay for reach had always been the case for non-social media, but the bait-and-switch that FB was the most egregious in ramping up in social has always felt like a really, really nasty betrayal (though I saw it coming way ahead of the actual switch, and was so depressed that others couldn't see it).
I actually saw a graphic the other day that summed up why I always hated FB way more than the other tech giants, this is from @pluralistic 's book "The Internet Con: How to Seize the Means of Computation"
