My goal with #metro5 is to focus on the content, and expand photography related features like exif/metadata, collections and portfolios

This is an early prototype of how posts will look, feedback and boosts much appreciated!

@dansup That reminds me of good old Flickr! And that is good! ;-)

@dansup@mastodon.social maybe need better icon for aperture :blobfoxthonking:

For example

Toon

@dansup looks sharp! And I understand the focus on photography, metadata, etc if you want to position #pixelfed as a social photo sharing network.

However: If you want it to be more like an Instagram replacement - which is more about sharing visual stories/blogs, announcements, illustrations (not photographs per-se) - those exif info is less relevant I guess.

dansup

@toon Yeah, I'm thinking the exif and other data will only be shown if a specific setting is enabled or under a dropdown/link by default

Xavi F

@toon @dansup maybe you can put it inside some kind of accordion and let the user expand it if desired.

David Schmidt

@dansup Will this info surface in search somehow?

Benjamin

@individual8 @dansup would be nice to see images from a specific camera or lens only indeed

Mister Sterling

@dansup This would encourage me to use it daily

@dansup EXIF is great for photographers and those that want to learn!

Very Flickr.

I agree that it could be an optional setting to turn on instead since Instagram is not primarily for photographers.

Picturavis

@dansup very awesome. I migrated from Flickr to Pixelfed and this is what has been missing for me.
I would want to always see these metadata next to a photo.

Nicolas Hoizey

@dansup it looks much better! 👍

Maybe some icons could be better, but this is a detail. Here are the ones I use on my own photography site: nicolas-hoizey.photo/galleries

@dansup "expand photography related features"
BRILLIANT!!!! 🙏

Markus

@dansup Very clean! I would love some settings to pick and order exif/metadata that I care about. Ideally with the possibility of fallsbacks and/or overrides (in case of missing metadata).

Steven

@dansup Loving the direction that's evolving! Better than the story-ridden Instagram of today but aiming more for quality 😍

@dansup As a photographer myself I love this so much!
