@Gargron@mastodon.social good idea gargron those are two groups of people that fedi desperately needs more of @Gargron If Musk dare to do that, frankly in my opinion, many will indeed comes to Fediverse platforms, but others will just use other proprietary platforms such as Threads, Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram,... and have a high risk of those platforms doing these things again. People do find Fediverse platforms so confusing to use, and because of brandim recognition and network effect, they will not recognize the problem of centralized platforms @natsume_shokogami @Gargron @Gargron “Elon Musk on Thursday denied a report that he was considering pulling the platform from the European Union” …but take his word for what it’s worth. https://themessenger.com/tech/elon-musk-denial-twitter-europe-x-dsa-report @Gargron #conservative politician can stay on there. Right audience for them there and here they can't push their agenda on people not following. I won't tolerate their crap on my timeline. @arunshah240@mastodon.social @Gargron@mastodon.social @Gargron I have 10gb of ISP storage just for email. A long time ago everyone could host personal websites without paying more. What lay users really need is microblogging without censorship if they are not violating laws. I'm a political moderate & have not found free speech on any social network. Elon would make me pay for a broader voice, but he wouldn't censor me, though the people who work for him would, just like your server hosts. #partisanship @Gargron later on he said, he will not. @Gargron OpenAI also briefly blocked ChatGPT in Italy instead of complying with privacy laws. They hoped to flip the table and start a popular uprising, but it didn't work and they simply had to comply. @Gargron ...if not for governments, organizations and corporations to setup their own :fediverse: servers and start federating. Like @Bundesregierung or @ZDF did... @Gargron to be fair, I'm not sure it's so much. He's actually wanting to remove it so much as it's about to be removed for him @Gargron As much as I loathe giving Elon the time of day…. If I’m the EU, and Elon’s threatening to pull Xitter from Europe, my first and only thought is: “Well, I guess they just saved me a LOT of paperwork.” @Gargron Been saying he should have already done it a long time ago already. Let them make their own network. EU thinks they can just run the world. GDPR for websites what/who? Not advocating for Musk especially after my Twitter account was suspended, but EU is no hero. @Gargron I think #Spacekaren only does this to get publicity, to try to stay interesting. @Gargron Musk understands social media. The fewer users, the better for the platform. Above all, it makes it easy for advertisers to decide against spending on Twitter. Maybe some Twitter people will now realize that $11 was too much for Blue. *Zuckerberg laughs in the background* Now would be a good time for all European political parties, institutions and news organizations to set up servers on fedi for their staff. Doesn't have to be Mastodon. For many, WordPress would fit better. Some might even prefer Pixelfed or PeerTube. @Gargron Nothing sayds "savvy businessman" than cutting off an area with 400 million people over a spat. Edit: Oh and between this and the "pay to use" scheme they are rolling out... Time to Dump the #ElongatedMuskrat , @Gargron und die Politiker, die bereits hier sind, könnten etwas Aufmerksamkeit gebrauchen, damit sie ihren Account nicht nach 5 Posts einschlafen lassen: https://politics-on-social-media.github.io/ Now it would be a good time for journalists, politicians and *scientists* to set up and use an account on #Mastodon #twittermigration #xmigration #chemistry #glycotime #science @Gargron@mastodon. He keeps breaking EU/European laws & regulations. Glad to be over here, tbh @Gargron If he in fact does this, they may very well have to. We don't know for sure if he's doing this yet. I hope he does. But let's see @Gargron From what I understand the fiasco formerly known as Twitter is on thin ice with the E. U. already. It's like the scenario, "you're fired! You can't fire me, I quit!". There's no way he doesn't know he's got a shit show on his hands that he's created but won't admit it and can't figure out a way to fix it. @Gargron I suspect most will move over to Bluesky. I also have an account there as all the people seem to go there. Personally I prefer Mastodon. @Gargron All Right Wing Platforms either block Europe, as standard, or decide to block Europe to avoid further trouble. This is fantastic news. I'd go further. I hope Europe blocks Starlink in retaliation. Imagine if Tesla was banned too. @Gargron Alternative headline. "Musk considers prospect of X being banned in the EU after he turned it into an uncontrolled disinformation cesspit." @Gargron The problem for politicians is that there no algorithm on Mastodon to boost their posts. They'd have to work to get noticed...🤣 I already read he denied everything. I'll be honest with you. @Gargron And request a full dump of all your 'tweets' and other data so you have a backup. Good riddance if it's true, but I doubt that Xitter can afford to lose hundreds of millions of users. Sounds more like Musk blowing off some fetid gas. As to why more politicians and journalists don't leave, I suspect it's because they put engagement above ethical values. In the meantime, I am trapped on the hellsite because my suspension makes it logistically impossible to delete the account. If anyone knows a way round this, I would be grateful for the information. @Gargron DANG dont promise me a bloody good time Space Karen you wont keep your word anyway. @Gargron ,100% Contact Them All Via https://www.ceoemail.com ,This Guy Has Been Create Help For Me Being Heard With MP's, Police, NHS, BT/EE, & More 😀 Donate: £50 - £100 ,& Conact All CEO's Offices/Head Offices & Senior Governmental Departments In #EU & #Uk & #Europe ,Too Join: #Mastodon With Their Own Servers/Instances, & Join The Larger #Fediverse On: #Mastodon / #MastodonSocial / #PexilFed , & #Meta #Threads & More 😀 We Are In Uk, USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Europe Vs #BRICS R,C,I, Now would be a *really* good time for #Mastodon to make the photos forced into our timelines by the flashy new #PreviewCard either globally optional by user, or at least hideable on a post-by-post basis How many time are we going to be forced to see #Musk's smirking face just because some web site we'll never visit is using it as click--bait |
@Gargron I saw a community note on the site earlier saying this was false does anyone have proof
