Available soon ๐ @pixelfed If you could implement it, it would be awesome! @tommi JPEG-XL is on our roadmap don't worry! In order to support HEIC, webp, AVIF, JPEG-XL and other new formats we need to carefully refactor the MediaPipeline and APIs. Without introducing bugs and/or breaking support for other formats. And we need to generate a fallback copy in a widely supported format like jpeg/png for older clients. In a way that doesn't break the web UI, APIs (mobile apps) or federation (other projects). It's a bit more complicated than adding a mime type to config I completely understand! It is a long, complex and itchy process indeed, but I cannot wait since JPEG XL is SO AWESOME! Speaking of roadmap, did you ever consider making a public one, so that sponsors, admins and users can actively follow Pixelfedโs development process? |
