Sigh, no. Historians no longer regard the designation "Dark Ages" as helpful, and religion and science were not seen in opposition in the early medieval period - monks were among the most important medical and experimental practitioners. @christinkallama @jeffowski Indeed! It was actually an age of huge technological advancement, with scientific treatises set to verse in Latin. It's referred to by some as the "first renaissance" because it was partly due to exposure to ancient texts on engineering. The "dark ages" was a term invented by later ages to make themselves feel smarter. It's early modern propaganda. @jeffowski ...which happened at the same time as the Islamic Golden Age https://faseb.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1096/fj.06-0803ufm @jeffowski @jeffowski Exactly it wasn''t a fun time and women were branded witches if they exhibited intelligence and men could accuse whoever they wanted to of being a witch @jeffowski You know your antiquated view of the middle ages is actually pretty unscientific and full of false believes!? Don't throw stones from inside the glass house! @acid |
