I think Unity will figure it out in time, they've already walked it back. This industry is infamously a powder keg on a short fuse.

they walked it back, apologizing for "the confusion" instead of focusing on the breach of trust and asinine approach to licensing they presented which means they'll either be forced to abandon this idea completely or die (or at least hurt significantly, as they already are) on that hill, I think.
we don't really owe large companies like these leniency and understanding - if this is truly a mistake (I doubt it) a decision this impactful should've been researched more
