Not to sound like a broken record, but you gotta watch out for suspicious instance growth

Spam accounts can give the impression that platforms or servers are growing faster than they are, and if not handled, can indicate a lack of proper moderation

A good rule of thumb is to use the MAU count, age of the instance, monthly post count and user count if you are in doubt

Spam is beneficial to devs but not users πŸ˜‰

@dansup what about adding some sort of "confidence score"?

dansup

@thisismissem yeah that would be helpful, I meant just generally though

@dansup though, like, switter.at doubled in size every day for a month, in uncontrollable growth.

@dansup we could come up with a formula based on number of accounts and engagement (not sure how this can be defined/calculated) and use it as a metric

@dansup I wonder what is going on with pixelfed.social right now? My recent post hasn't federated at all, and I can't even delete posts (web interface)! I'm a children's/book illustrator, so I don't think I was blocked or something? I'm not sure what's going on. pixelfed.social/EugeniaLoli

@eugenialoli it’s the apple event, our queues are backlogged

@dansup Thank you for the reply! But I also can't seem to delete a post at .social (using the web interface). Also, the likes don't show up in the notifications (while there have been likes).
