@EU_Commission I really like what the #EU is doing for consumer rights and data protection. What happens when the companies don’t do what they are supposed to?

@wuppi In case a gatekeeper does not comply with the obligations laid out in the DMA, we can impose fines up to 10% of the company's total worldwide turnover, which can go up to 20% in case of repeated infringement.

In case of systematic infringements, we are also empowered to adopt additional remedies such as obliging a gatekeeper to sell a business or parts of it, or banning the gatekeeper from acquiring additional services related to systemic non-compliance.

@EU_Commission @wuppi Big companies will shell out the liability to a little company with little turnover, I guess.

@wuppi @EU_Commission You had the right not to buy an iPhone. What they are doing here is putting in backdoors so they can snoop on you, arrogantly thinking random hackers in Russia, North Korea, and PRoChina will somehow not be able to get through them… they will! 😒

@kDelta @EU_Commission why backdoor? This is not what this is about. If you don‘t want to use the options you get you don’t have to and everything will stay the same. And don‘t tell me adding an option for an additional App Store will cause security risks as then the iPhone already has these risks as in a corporate environment you can already use these non Apple stores since years. So where are all these backdoors?

@wuppi @EU_Commission We’ll see who’s right on this one in time.
