@EU_Commission What about Twitter?

@nelsonakis @ERDonnachie Oh I totally agree that Meta, Google and Apple are more powerful and that they should be on this list. But I would also like Twitter to be included, given the direction its policies are taking since Musk took over. @nelsonakis Yes, though hopefully the usual rules will keep them slightly in check. And perhaps journalists and politicians will even walk away from X and spend their time with something less toxic. @SrPICHAku @ERDonnachie @nelsonakis No. i didn't say nothing that you say I did. @SrPICHAku @ERDonnachie @nelsonakis Yes it is true. Platforms don't invent people. They exist. But if you're a sports fan you go to a stadium, if you're religious you go to a temple, if you're a racist/fascist/etc you go to X @ERDonnachie @nelsonakis Then you might as well include snapchat or discord, which are big outside our demographic. #eu has to start somewhere. @nelsonakis @ERDonnachie the Digital Markets App isn't written in a way that would benefit Twitter anyways. you're describing a different type of legislature altogether @ERDonnachie @nelsonakis It was used directly only by relatively few, but indirectly via almost everyone. @ERDonnachie @nelsonakis have you looked up that number? Twitter had a massive following before a recent purchase. @mikebabcock @ERDonnachie @nelsonakis things got so bad after the purchase, the european commission is on mastodon. Also, I've never heard "add reddit to your search query for better results". Adding twitter used to be nice for tims sensitive issue like is there an earthquake or is a service down but they killed that. Twittee boarded the express to bankrupt city and it threatening the conductor so they go faster @ERDonnachie @nelsonakis Maybe that was the plan behind the recent changes – get rid of enough people to not fall under new legislation? ;-) @nelsonakis @EU_Commission so much stuff to do on twitter that they cant do everyone at once? @nelsonakis @f4grx while I hate Elmo and what he's done to Twitter, I think it would be a pretty hard sell to define Twitter as part of these gatekeeping infrastructures. @nelsonakis > These are the *first* 6 companies designated as ‘gatekeepers' under the Digital Markets Act. Twitter isn’t on here because it isn’t a digital gatekeeper. That definition refers to companies who sell software and have app stores; there isn’t a twitterOS or a twapp store. @nelsonakis @EU_Commission Twitter is a cursed graveyard where monkey ghouls shit each other on the heads. Wouldn't bother. |

Most people don't use it.
