Gregory's Server@dansup The UI of Pixelfed concerns me. I feel it's too similar to Instagram. How long before Meta takes notice and decides to strike it down for copyright infringement? Or is it even a possibility? Are UI elements copyrightable?

 @laukanhenkka @pixelfed I think the only mention of Instagram on pixelfed.org is in the context of highlighting the fediverse and how awesome it would be to "follow a twitter user from IG" We don't talk shit about IG or even compare features on our official website |
@laukanhenkka @pixelfed We're moving towards our own unique UI, although I will admit we are heavily inspired by IG.
IANAL but you may not be aware that Instagram/Meta copied the Stories feature from Snapchat, and they have also copied BeReal features too.
I'm not worried about Meta lawyers as I've done my best to not violate their ToS and copyright in terms of features and branding.
