@Gargron Is it turned on or off by default?

Andrea Grandi šŸ¦•

@Gargron out of curiosity: do current third party clients need to do anything particular to fetch results (like using a specific API) or is it all server based and normal search is fine? Thanks

@Gargron it is awesome that is their, but are you going into more detail why it is an opt in option for publicly available posts?

@Gargron Any hint on when 4.2 will go into the stable branch?

@Gargron

I have not opted in, but I got search results!

Are you SURE you have made it opt-in???

Eugen Rochko

@MaryPot You're not on the version I'm talking about. You can always search your own posts.

@Gargron

privacy and reach tab? I'm not finding that so far

@Gargron Opt-in for the win. These kinds of things should always be opt-in by default. When Facebook and Google started doing automatic opt-in for all their dodgy data shanigans was when I started opting out of their services entirely. Treat your user with respect! Thanks for doing so here at #mastodon

@Gargron are you doing feature requests? Id love it if I could apply a filter that stopped my #mastodon feed being overwhelmed by "hyper boosters". I've been forced to unfollow people because they drowned out others in my feed.

@Gargron that just feels a bit binary. I like their stuff. It's just when there's too much I loose everyone.

A function to allow users to deprioitize posts/boosts from users, without turning them off altogether would be great.
