@pixelfed
Please say how to get Pixelfed. It isn’t on the IOS app store.

@KintsugiUwU @pixelfed Thank you. I knew about the beta but their posts don’t specify and i thought it had been released—and I seem to remember an announcement a while back that it was imminent

Kintsugi

@geophany @pixelfed they should officially release it next week, but not 100% sure. Let’s hope for the best

Join a server suggested for your interests or needs as listed on pixelfed.org/

You can use the web app (log into the server you join) if you want rather than use a dedicated app because it's good.

@geophany @pixelfed Pixelfed is a web-based app and has mobile versions in beta:

@geophany@mastodon.online If there is none, I think you have to go through the internet browser (safari on iOS for example). Most of the time, the mobile version of fedivers "app" websites are optimized for it :blob_cat:

@geophany @pixelfed Pixelfed isn’t a phone app in and of itself. It’s a piece of software that runs on a server, and you can access it either through the web interface or through an app. Just like Mastodon. :)

You will want to sign up at a Pixelfed server (instance) such as pixelfed.social (which is likely the only one so far that’s got the latest version, but if you wait a bit, others will upgrade pretty soon). Once you do so, I presume there will be instructions on how to import from your insta (if that’s what you’re looking to do). Thenyou can download an app (the only iOS one I know of offhand is Vernissage, though there’s an official app in beta) and upload/view posts in a similar fashion to insta.

The signup process has a walkthrough here pixelfed.org

Once you have an account on a Pixelfed server, you can share it with friends on any Fedi system (Mastodon, Pleroma, Firefish/Calckey, etc..) and they’ll be able to follow you there.

Hope that helps!

@geophany @pixelfed check pixelfed.org/mobile-apps for details about mobile apps.

Or just use the web interface (that's what I use!)

@pixelfed Huge! I was thinking about manually importing from insta but now I can just do it from the website!

@pixelfed tried import on android and windows... without success 😒
I click on select first 100 posts
but see only 6

I'm using v0.11.8 - could this be the reason why it's not working?

@pixelfed is it possible to create a "link" or migrate my pixelfed account into my Mastodon one?

Zekovski

@pixelfed
Could you please rephrase "sign in with Mastodon" as "import Mastodon account" here and in the software.
This does not describe the actual action and I saw people here confused and frustrated with Pixelfed for this reason.

@pixelfed Thank you for the hard work! :cat_hug_triangle: :blobcathearts:

@pixelfed Questions by an early "tester": How about handling previous ("old") IG imports!? Any select or delete feature availible? Are the now imported IG-Fotos visible to the public? Are they sorted by date? Thanks a lot.

@pixelfed The import from instagram feature does not seem to be fully baked yet 😥 It does seem like it starts to import, but during review only very few of my posts actually show the image and "select first 100" + import only seem to import the ones actually showing the image (in my case 1-3 images out of the 100. I checkted the zip from instagram and the images are there. They also seem to be in the browser memory as blobs, but just not shown.
Tested on win and linux in chrome and firefox

@pixelfed Sorry, but still not working fully correct😞 What are the "first 100 images"? No sort by timestamp! No way to delete older imports! No change to make images visible worldwide! Please improve import to Instagram!!! Thanks a lot!
