@hacknorris @nixcraft @riderexmachina @hacknorris @Zekovski @hacknorris @riderexmachina Looks like she's already getting an early education in "well-actually" unfortunately @hacknorris @Zekovski @riderexmachina I'm pretty sure the content in square brackets was added by the aunt for clarity, indicating that the child didn't necessarily know it was an "s" @hacknorris @riderexmachina my son was reading at 3. He would correct the captions on the TV saying things like: “They got it wrong! He didn’t say ______, he said ______.” As anyone who regularly uses captions for movies knows, they often skip words, abridge dialogue, and paraphrase ideas when writing the captions. It’s especially fun with dubbed foreign films because the caption writer seemingly works from an entirely separate translation than the screen writer. @hacknorris @riderexmachina My sister was reading at 3. It's rare, but kids can read that young. @hmhackmaster Judging from the dates this four year old contributor is now a teenager, or will be by the end of the year if she's not already. I wonder if she's expressed any further interest in tech! @thorybo Oh dang you make a good point! I read the date but totally didn’t do the math, I wonder what’s up with them… @levpetrovitch @Zugschlus @nixCraft Excellent! I would be proud to have that on my resume. At any age! @levpetrovitch @nixCraft when you can say, at age 18, that you have 14 years experience of kernal development.... @nixCraft @nixCraft Thank you for highlighting my failures as a father to 4 and 5 year old girls 😀 @nixCraft Twenty years later, Maisa writes the patch that prevents the Singularity @adhdeanasl @nixCraft She would be 13, now, since it was submitted in November 2014, almost 9 years ago. @TritTriton @nixCraft Damn, that means the Singularity is only 11 years away @nixCraft This is the magic of free and open source software that we in the FOSS community love to see. :blobfoxfloofcute: @absurdlyinsane@ohai.social @nixCraft@mastodon.social I already saw it . Really cute, yes. :blobcataww: @nixCraft I especially love that Tero took the approach of "you can do this yourself" rather than "I'll do it for you"... Not that there's anything wrong with the latter, but it was an excellent opportunity to teach the lesson that #opensource is (or, should be) truly open for all sorts of people to contribute to, and I like that the opportunity did not go to waste. Bloody love it. Somebody send her a t-shirt; you’re never too young to start collecting nerdgear! @nixCraft I wish some of the devs on my team would comment their changes this well. Instead I see "<filename> updated." Yes, clearly that file was updated. But tell me which parts are happier now! @nixCraft@mastodon.social that girl now have 13-ish years :otachan_drinking: hope she is still doing something compute related! @nixCraft Honestly... That's an awesome patch. That kid is going somewhere (as long as that kid is supported). @nixCraft Gotta fill out that GitHub commit graph; if your graph ain’t green by the time you’re sixteen nobody is going to employee you ;) @nixCraft je ne peux m'empêcher de constater qu'avant la réponse à cette belle nouvelle, il y avait tout pile 42 réponses... Hasard ? Coïncidence ? Je ne crois pas... 😅 @nixCraft: Thus, Linux has not only achieved compliance with Item #12 of the Evil Overlord List, but even exceeded the standard by 20%. @nixCraft And here I am spending a minute deciphering what it was all about. This girl has a bright future. :) @nixCraft 😱 that is impressive and cute at the same time. the drawback is I am now feeling much older and slow... Not that I need to hear the @atpfm guys complain some more about Apple’s feedback/radar system… but this definitely made me think about their conversation(s) |
@nixCraft love it!
